OK so I admit to not seeing one in the wild for, errr, decades. On Friday
night I was stationary on a quiet NI road and Brocc sauntered out right in
front of me. Claws all clickety click on the raod. Nosed around a little,
didn't mind the side lights, checked out the verge on the other side,
wandered in, looked back briefly and went about his way. Visible for 30
seconds. It was a real pleasure to see the dear chap, though one might
comment that some soap and a bath was overdue. Probably not to his face
though, didn't look like the sort of Cove you would want to corner in an
    alleyway.

The sett in next door's orchard seem not so destructive of late. Didn't
dig so many holes in the lawn after the leather jackets[1] this autumn.

They are a satellite sett[2] of a big one in the grounds of an empty old
peoples home not far way. The people living in houses next to that are
getting quite fed up with their antics.

loads of the fuckers around here, always squashed ones on the roads
Not unless you've had a TB vaccination anyway. This is driving the
dwindling number of dairy/beef farmers potty around here. Vaccinations
are the key but seem a long way off. £20 million over 3 years seems
peanuts for the development of something that will generate billions in
income to the 1st one to come up with a working vaccine for cattle.

This I know about. Ever so glad I didn't follow the line into dairy farming.

Me too. I would've been entering it just as milk quotas arrived. Shortly
followed by BSE, foot & mouth and now an epidemic of TB. My parent's choice
of throwing the money into a Wye Valley property in 1978 was a much better
    decision.

Does that time actually exist? I mean, it's a bit like the old
question of whether a tree falling down in the forest makes a noise if
there's no-one there to hear it.

You youngsters have it easy. You could still be queuing in the cattle
sheds at Liverpool at 3 am in hopes of getting on a ferry some time, in
    the old days.

Got to catch an 01.45 Seacat out for the TT next year. Might be able to
change that when I have to pay up in February though. Still, digs
arranged in Andreas within a short walk of a pub with what looks like
decent grub. Looking forward to it.

There's no such time as Three O'clock in the morning, there's only Three
O'clock in the middle of the night.
