Sometimes the best of us miss the bleeding obvious so the reminder was
    probably worth the effort.
Cleaning out and sealing the tank is always high on my list of jobs
when I get a new-to-me SOB, they always need it.

It might be an idea to put the Ducati into preservation storage for
a while, at the rate they seem to be rotting out their unobtainium
yours should be a highly prized rarity in 5 or 10 years.

I've just picked up a signed, limited edition copy of her book "On
being ill". The price made me ill.

Why have they ground the welds?

If they'd TIG welded it they wouldn't have attacked it with a grinder
so my guess is that they've had a MIG Monkey on it and it was gash.

Get it checked. When you said you were going to have it welded I said
to get it back unpainted and untouched by a grinder so they've passed
on one part and failed miserably on the other. I'd go and find a small
welding shop and ask them to check it with dye penetrant and when they
highlight any defects ask for some money back. There *will* be defects
or they wouldn't have ground it.

Sorry to be negative about it but it looks a bit suspect to me.

The tig weld I had done on my footrest was a work of art.

Place in Camberley, drop me a line if anyone needs the address.

I'd have recommended to TOG, but they're an engineering place and the
weld I had done was in Aluminium ..

If it is not sealed it will rot again.
If it is sealed it will not rot so it wont need welding again.
