  1. The colour scheme is rather nice though.

It looks very similar to the old B6 apart from the engine is painted
black and they've covered a few bits up which makes it look fluffy
instead of meaty. The B6.5 is a prettier looking bike than the B6
(IMHO) but I don't think Bandits should be pretty, they should look
mean. Perhaps changing the name from a Bandit to a "Polite Money
Launderer" or even a "Bandit lacking attitude" is required.

As for that B12GT I'm not so sure. Anything that has a tank range of
less than 100 miles is difficult to describe as 'grand touring.' A
B6GT seems more logical, but even then the tank range isn't all that
    stunning.

If it's anything like the V-Strom Grand Touring edition it's just a
normal model with heated grips and a few boxes stuck to it. I have
considered a V-Strom Grand Touring Edition but for the extra cost one
could have a full Givi set and decent heated grips attached to a
normal model and still have money to spare.

Actsherly, it's even more of a con than the V-Strom vs V-Stron Grand
    Tourer.

    £5,299 = Normal B12F
    £5,999 = Grand Tourer

So those heated grips and boxes must be worth £700

Have you ever priced up a full Givi kit?

    It's not cheap.

    (quick fag-packet calculation below)

    Wingrack: £170
    Side cases: £320
    Top Box: £180
    --------------------
    Total: £500

Plus, say another £30-£50 for grips.

Add the cost of fitting as well, and you're in the same sort of
    ball-park figure as Suzuki charge.

It's not a bargain, but it's not significantly more than the cost of
    buying all the bits yourself.

But you'd be buying them with a new bike and high profit items like
Givi kit is very easy to discount.

I'd be interested to know what sort of kit is shipped with the Touring
and Grand Touring Suzuki models. It doesn' have Givi stamped on it so
it probably isn't. Sourcing replacements could therefore be
    expensive.

There's a good chance the kit is also covered by the warranty.

    Agree with you there.

I'm still going to wait for the 07 model though.

    Ditto.

    Then if it's horrible I'll buy a cheaper 06.

Well I think it will sell quite well just because lots of people buy
them and use them to go places with a tank bag and/or tailback etc.
It's about time the manufacturers started to listen to feedback from
    the users.

This and the Suzuki "limited edition" makes me think that some
marketing bods from Ford and Vauxhall now have jobs in the bike
    industry.

It's like the Suzuki Laser and the Kawasaki SRi 130.

Radical idea, that - bikes with factory-fitted fairing and luggage. Who
knows where it could end up?

And in classic Usenet stylee.... me too. I was looking forward to the latest
Zed, but if *that's* the definitive one, I'll keep the one I've got.

Well said. When I saw my blue Bandit outside that dealer, I thought it

No, no. Trailers are for the cognoscenti only.

Cheers for this evening BTW, it was nice to see you and Irene again,
nice to meet young 'un and very nice to see BSG.
