    Greetings

I tested the above today and the boy in the shop had an arse of time
    getting the beast to start.

Kept muttering about the switch on the clutch.

Could someone tell me what was going on?

    Cheers

Yes, pull the two wires off from under the clutch lever and join them
    together :)

    Cheers for that.

So that would not be good on a bike that is 02 and done 2000 miles and
he is wanting 3850 pounds for.

Not all Bandits have the switch on the clutch, the earlier ones didn't.

There's a safety interlock between the side stand, neutral and clutch.

Or do what I did and insert a paper clip.
