    Hi,

My bandit's exhaust ha sfinally given up the ghost.

It's broken where the downpipes join the tailpipe and there's a 1/2 inch gap
    now.

It's very loud, but is it harmful to the engine?

I thought I'd once read that it would run weak and I could wave goodbye to
    the pistons?

    TIA

That cheap? Just remember it's stainless steel that requires welding so
you'll have to find someone who can TIG weld. I had both parts of mine
repaired properly with new stainless sections to replace the mild steel
bits by one of my customers who make stainless exhausts, and at
Lozzomegadiscountrates it still cost the best part of 80 quid including
    a new gasket.

You'll probably find that you'll need both parts welding too.

I'd rate my welding skills at about 2 on a scale of 0-10 and I can
weld stainless using MMA with no problems. If I can do it then it's
    not difficult.

The problem with an exhaust centre might be that they don't want to
stock stainless rods or that just maybe they'd sooner sell a new
    system.
