Guy coming to collect the blade with half cash and half bankers draft.

Do I let him ride off, can I check with the bank before he does?
He seems a nice enough chap???

If he can get a Bankers draft, why can't he get the cash for it?

I used to work in the motor trade. We were advised by our bank to phone the
originating branch of a bankers draft after some draft cheques were stolen.
When we phoned a bank to check this (different bank), they thought we were
    crazy questioning a draft.

I'm gonna phone the bank. We are both at the same branch.

Can't you just get him to do an online transfer of fund from his bank
    account to yours?

Personally I wouldn't want to be walking around with £1600 in my pocket.
I actually wouldn't be comfortable having that much in the house either.

Bankers draft is convenient, easy to carry and much more secure.

    My opinion of course.

If you both have on line banking, invite him in to do the transfer.

My brother recently sold a car with something similar. He phoned the bank
and they confirmed they'd issued it.

Yes, but why half and half? Why not get the draft for the full amount?
    Sounds daft.

The most money I've ever carried on me (in notes) was £4000, which felt
    a bit strange.

I've got plastic in my wallet I could easily spend that much on though,
and it doesn't concern me at all.

Could just let him have the bike for a few weeks, you know try it out for a
while, then if he likes it he can always pop the money in when he is passing
    by next ;-)

LOL, he hasn't had a test ride yet.
He'll get on the A127 and open it up. As soon as she hits 7000 revs he'll
    know what he's bought!
