  2. Not me.
All very fine in theory but when you try and implement this sort of thing
it starts to look more and more like welfare capitalism which comes
complete with associations to the far right of political thinking and as
any fule knows there is no place for politics in business. Greed is where
it is at and greed, in this case, is what you get. Any arguments about
the morality of capitalism are just so much specious shite.

It was a couple of months ago, plus an 18 quid bung from Quidco for
    taking the card out.

Oh, I don't really GAF, really, as long as the banks recover some time
soon and start recruiting again. I don't really like the pay cuts i've
suffered over the last 3 years by having to work in the real world :-(
**** that, who's going to put their gold card behind the bar to treat
the department if there's equality in pay ?

According to the "Technology Insights 2011" report more than 9000 new IT
and telecoms professionals will be needed in Northern Ireland over the
    next five years.

Surely you'll be able to get your own gold card on that lot ?

Unix is still good, but i'm middle management now, so when they don't
need bean counters or people to whip the workers, i'm straight out.

My PM skills are also good, but PM's seem to be on a turnstile in most
of the places i've worked, so I doubt that's a very stable job to
    lodge in either.

I'm getting called every week or so at the moment, so I I think things
    are picking up, slowly ...

I'd agree with that on the short haul flights. But it's still not a bad
deal on long haul. For one flight, total fees to Las Vegas was around
£200 IIRC, the regular fare about £700.

I went to the US business class, there and back, for about €300 in Sept 2009
    with my AF airmiles.

Short haul flights, as you say, really ain't worth the grief.

  11. Agreed. Not when it's, say, £120 return to European cities on BA.

We've got enough miles for a return flight to Santiago now :)

I wish it was the same in France. AF are thieving bastards.
