This event was reported on WIN TV (Gippsland).
My report also uses info from participants.
Whereas the Honda - Wayne Gardner ride of a couple
of years back was a fore-ever memorable occasion,
today's ride was a disaster for the participants, and there were many. One
report had the traffic stream at 14 km long.
The pace was abysmal, even to the extent of being dangerous. The message was
    sent from the rear patrol
car to the one leading, that the speed at the back of the group was
exceeding the speed limit in an effort to keep
up, thus the speed of the whole column was slowed accordingly. At some times
this was only 60kph on the
open hwy. The *image* (safety?) conscious participants
generally kept their places, refraining from speeding up.
They suffered the humiliation, but some aired it to the
    media at the Morwell pitstop.
A big raspberry goes to the driver of the patrol car, who
from near the rear of the group saw the need to travel down the wrong side
of the divided road inc median strip leading into Traralgon, for no
    important reason other than
self importance. This caused mayhem in the stream of on-coming traffic.
What happened after Morwell, I'm unsure.
Another evening report on the Grand Prix reported that
the State Government had returned to the authors, a study on the economic
returns to the State from conducting the event. Apparently, the Govn't was
    unhappy with the results shown??

Yeah, didn't write enough tickets, what an economic flop !!
Of course Bracksie and his 40 Bandits were unhappy...
Doesn't matter, the latest batch of cameras to go into operation will make
up for it within a week.
Who needs any tourist-trade when the locals keep filling the state coffers?

Sick and tired of this shit !!
Time to look overseas and copy the British motorists and their reaction to
    Big Brother.

watch out... in Europe, they are confiscating bikes.

Been through on euro-moto and a couple of other lists, that they look
for bikes that are speeding - although I think that means excessive
speed, but it might not - and then confiscate the bikes. getting them
back means having to go to court in that country months later.

Seems they are sick of brits coming over and being stupid on theior
roads, but they aren't just doing it to foreigners. It isn't clear if
they are also doing it to cars...

I met up with the tail end of the ride about 10 km out of Inverloch. It
went past my place going into Traralgon. Didn't seem to be that bad.
Certainly, trying to get them all through places like Traralgon, what
with 20 million triffic lights in a 2 km distance would've been
    something to behold.

A few mates who participated didn't seem to think it was as bad as
you're making out. The Bairsdale/Sale sector apparently went at a good
clip. Between Inverloch and San Remo, where I joined up, it tended to
speed up and slow down, which is typical, given that the stream would be
doing so for the various speed limits.

From what I saw, though, it seemed to progress OK.
