Bathurst 1000

Discussion in 'Australian Motorcycles' started by Bernd Rosemeier, Oct 6, 2009.

  1. Hi over there in Down Under.
My name is Bernd from Aachen in Germany and I am member of the German
Newsgroup de.rec. motorrad. Motorcycles are my interest since 1966 when
    I got my first licence.
I am a great fan of V8 Supercars too and especially the Bathurst 1000.
Over the last years i saw this event on a French TV Station but now this
Station is encoded and no longer available.
Is there any chance to watch it via Internet? Can anybody help me?

    Best Regards

    Bernd

I don't know Bernd. I haven't tried it but a bloke at work suggested that
this link might show some free sport.

Not a fan myself ('though I generally don't miss an opportunity to do a lap
when I pass through Bathurst on my way to the Phillip Island GP and
    Superbikes each year)
    Cheers .... Clem

By the way Bernd, it's broadcast in Australia on Channel 10 or One HD.
You may also find it on Foxsports.
    Cheers again,

  9. I am a fan of Mark Skaife for all the years. In the 80´s i owned an Opel
Senator that was as far as i know your Commodore.

    Is that enough

  10. In the 80´s i had an Opel Senator very similar to your Commodore. And i
    like Mark Skaife.
    Very much, thanks.

Good stuff Bernd. Did you have to pay of did you manage to find a free

  12. No. All the links i got from Australians didnt work over here.
But then i looked up by my Internet Provider (Deutsche Telekom)who
serves also IPTV. My connection is a 25Mbit and so i have an Entertain
package which provides Free TV Stations.
In one of the Pay TV additional packages (12,95€/month)i found MotorsTV
a French/British TV Company serving only Motorsport and of course a full
    transmission of the Bathurst 1000.
The best of all is that the package is free for the first month. Its
clear that it will be cancelled the next days. grin

  13. My connection is a 25Mbit and so i have an Entertain
Thanks. But its not the normality in Germany. Maybe 10% have such a good
connection. A friend 4 km away has a 1Mbit connection in the same city
with an upload of 384kb. Then internet research can be boring.
My luck is a German Telekom station on the other side of the street.
Presently 25/5 Mbit. Maximum possible is 74/13.

What speeds are possible in Aus?

If I lived in a capital city I could get 3x the downloads for 1/2 the
price with ADSL2 through the same mob...

Doug, a question. IIRC you're using tuneboy on the trumpy, any good?

Hi Bill, forgive me diving in, but I use TuneBoy on my Street Triple, so
I thought I'd throw in my two cents worth.

It's a good bit of programming, but it has it's little quirks.

If you "fiddle" with bikes, then it is useful, but can, at times, be
    frustrating.

So far, in less than two years of owning the Striple, I have had a
couple of dyno sessions, to adjust the fuel mapping.

The first session was to adjust the TOR mapping, which I had loaded to
the ECU using TuneBoy, and the dyno operator, who knew about TuneBoy,
used it to adjust the fuelling. At that point, I had made no alterations
to the standard WRT exhaust, or anything else relating to the engine.

The second session on the dyno was yesterday, to re-adjust the mapping
to suit a modified exhaust system.

Other than those sessions, I have downloaded mapping twice myself, both
times, adjusting the constant used for speed calculations, so that I
have, or rather, had an accurate speedo. The constant got blown away
yesterday, because of the quirkiness of TuneBoy.

As far as I can figure out, once TuneBoy is safely installed on your
laptop, you can start it up by the normal double click on desktop icon,
but, if you happen to select a mapping file, and click on that, TuneBoy
takes it to be a desire to install, or re-install TuneBoy. :-|

Once you start a re-install, you are doomed to do a full "remove", clean
up of registry, then fresh install.

Support is pretty much non-existent from TuneBoy, he rarely answers
e-mails or phone calls, but there are various experts on Triumph (and
other) fora who can usually help out.

One interesting thing that the dyno gentleman mentioned to me,
yesterday, was that it seems Triumph are sufficiently pissed off about
TuneBoy that they are laying traps within the ECU to make TuneBoy's
reloading of programming harder. If one of these traps are tripped, the
bike just won't start, or do anything.

Don't know, but assume, this may only affect newer models.

Some of the usefulness of TuneBoy is related to the model of bike
involved, some models have more limitations coded into the ECU than
others..... Rocket III being the classic, that I know of.

    Hope this helps.

    regards,

I think so. I've only used it the once so far, to upload the correct
tune that the local Triumph spannermonkeys either couldn't, or wouldn't,
do, despite being asked to on two occasions. At one point in it's early
life, someone uploaded the wrong tune into it. I'd never have known
    without the Tuneboy.

    Made quite a difference.

Now that I'm about to replace the engine, loom and ancillaries, I need
to pay for a new licence, but once it's back on the road I'm going to
run it up to Cairns to get it tuned properly.

I have the older model serial port cable. I also have the Keyspan
adaptor for use with a USB port.

From memory the cable isn't that expensive but the licence is and is
    unique to each ECU.

You're welcome to borrow the cable and USB adaptor anytime if you want
to save yourself a few bucks.
