Sounds a bit like an Urban Legend. Mine is one of the older ones though...
I figure it'd be more compatible with the T595/955i as that's the first
    bike they were designed for.

Apparently there is a bike dyno in Cairns.

That's what I thought too, but, Roger, the guy who told me this, knows
Wayne (Mr.TuneBoy) and Roger was one of the first dyno operators to use
TuneBoy, with Wayne standing beside him, showing him how to work it, so....
Yeah, well the TuneBoy.exe does come up with 955 dash on it. :)

I actually meant that the Rocket III, from the shop, has programming
which sez stuff like, if in 1st, 2nd or 3rd gear, and the rider asks for
full throttle, ignore him/her, and only give them 40% throttle.

I think it also decides that something like 210 kph is quite enough for
anyone, although it can be retrained from this bad habit by use of
    TuneBoy. ;-)

as you say in another post:-

"From memory the cable isn't that expensive but the licence is and is
    unique to each ECU.

You're welcome to borrow the cable and USB adaptor anytime if you want
to save yourself a few bucks."

Yup. $200 seems to be the going price for a key, which is coded to the
ECU identity, thus one key works for one ECU, on several copies of TuneBoy.

Cable and software, IIRC was another $200.

I,too, have the cable and software, and I too am prepared to
lend/help/whatever anyone who wants to only pay for the key, and live in
    the Sydney area.

N.B. the USB cable I have is the proper one for Triumphs, it may, or may
not work for other makes of bikes.

That cable is _very_ expensive if you lose it or your toolbox gets
    pinched.

    I've checked..cannot get a replacement cable..Have to buy a whole
"new" kit. Not real impressed at that policy.

OK, in a way, I agree with you about the policy, but, to be fair about
things, we, as in the populace of aus.moto, if we really had to,
actually have enough technical expertise amongst us that we could knit a
    replacement cable.

I suspect we'd find that the cable would cost us a fair amount of money
for bits that aren't exactly common at Dick Smith's, but we could do it.

Then again, we wouldn't (collectively) bother to do this unless or until
it was one of "ours" who needed it, and we certainly wouldn't bother,
just to under cut Mr.TuneBoy. Well, that's my opinion, anyway.

Urban Legend rather than Urban Myth then... ; )
Just checked the site. I thought it was $100 for the cable, $400 for the
licence key/unlock code. Software free. It's been a while... It is $199
for the key. Great! $200 less than I thought... : )
Tuneboy.com.au sell adaptors for other makes for $49 each.

  7. Why did you ditch the Buell for the Vee? Mechanical issues? I love my Vee
(which is going to a happy new owner on Saturday) but they really need a beef
    up in the brake department.

  8. Cool. I like their streetfighter looking things but the air compressor engines
really put me off. Jap is hard to go by for decent power and reliability for
    not much money.

Thanks Doug for the offer. I figure I'll stump up for the full kit and I
can then play with it as necessary. Offer is appreciated though.

Thanks for that. Mine is a 2001 Sprint so it won't be a problem.

We have ADSL2+ which syncs at 22Mbit downstream/1Mbit upstream
(maximum possible is only a little more than that I gather).

Cable is available in limited areas at 100Mbit downstream.

Most towns are cities have access to ADSL2+ but the connection speed
varies depending upon the distance from the exchange and there are some
areas that have technology blockers which restrict connections to ADSL1
    at a max of 8Mbit.

AH but once it's had it's guts ripped out and replaced with after-market
you don't get to visit the dealer anywhere near as much
throw the suspension away for some Eu stuff and it rides smoother and
the bucks spent at the local machine shop balancing all the moving stuff
helps to partially compensate for the square cams realistically it
aint gonna idle smooth EVER but coming off a corner as the torque bits
and it begins to make "that" noise through the gears ...

  16. You sound like a Jaguar owner "Once you spend the first 50 grand getting it
right, then it just comes alive and only costs you 10k a year in routine
stuff." Or you just buy something from Japan and ride it.

Never understood all the allegations about twins and torque. None
seem to produce as much as a good jap inline 4.

    Don't be a dick , I didn't buy a buggered v12 Jag and do my dough
I did buy a pranged bike and rebuilt it how I wanted

a concept you are familiar with
you also understand toys cost money .

Well you are a nev "nuff"

I don't really think that twins produce more torque than inline 4's
(other things being equal) but the sound and feel of a good twin is SO
SO SO much more appealing (to me at least) than the way an inline 4
feels that I can put up with lower peak power and vibes at idle.
