Battery problems

    Actually, the battery is OK (brand spanking new).... the thing is not
    being charged when I run the bike.... [Yamaha ViragoXV1100]....
    Could someone please point me in the right direction with regard to what
    I need to replace to sort out this long standing problem once and for
    all PLEASE :(

    The HBoL or better still a proper workshoppe manual will give you all
    the information you need to establish beyond a shadow of doubt that it
    is probably the reg/rec unit that needs replacing.

    The defective part(s), if any, can be identified by testing. Only after the
    fault has been diagnosed and isolated to a defective component should parts
    replacement be considered. Following this troubleshooting chart on
    Electrosport's site will quickly uncover the source of the problem:
