Implied but not stated that this was on race rather than qualifying
tyres (they mention Gibernau does 78 laps but don't say how many Bayliss
    did)

Checa managed a faster lap on qualifying tyres on the Ducati

If Bayliss is running similar times to Gibernau over race distances it's
gotta be a good sign, sounds like Checa is doing well on the Duc as well
    - I'll admit to being a bit surprised.

Aah sweet irony if Bayliss beats all four Duc bikes next year...

  5. Not really - he's always been pretty quick, he just never seems to make
it to full race distance... If he can keep the damned thing rubber side
down all the way to the chequered flag (which he seems to have great
difficulty doing) he probably has a pretty good chance of a good result
    this year.

(and despite me being a fully paid up latté-sipping café-posing
marquee-proud slow wobbly Ducati rider, I'd still love to see Troy
    thrash him next year ;-)

    Fair point
You and me both. I was very much barracking for Ducati until they
shafted Bayliss, but the truth is he's got a better chance on the Honda
anyway so I guess we shouldn't be bitter :)
