BBC digital gone down?

  1. We seem to have lost all the Beeb channels on our set-top box. Including
Freeview. Various ITV channels etc unaffested.

    Anyone?

I've had that on and off for the past few weeks

especially ITV, CH4, E4 (but not E4+1) - so that's back to front to what
    you're getting

pixellating and freezing all over the place

maybe its something to do with the channel number changes

BBC 1 London is broadcast from Astra 2D @ 28.2deg East using the
    Horizontal polarity at 10,773gHz.

On the same frequency from that transponder the following channels are
    broadcast:

    BC One London
    BBC Two England
    BBC Four
    CBBC
    CBeebies UK
    BBC Three
    BBC One Northern Ireland
    Five (Region 2)

Do the above seem to work?

If not, do the following channels also appear to fail:

Channel 4 London, More 4 UK +1, Talk Sport (radio)? And try Zone
    Horror +1.

If none of the above work then your box is probably fooked and can't
switch from Vertical to Horizontal polarity.

Channels broadcast from Astra 2D using the vertical polarity are:

Channel 4 London +1, More 4 UK, ITV 1 London, etc.

    Do they work?

Dunno why that is. E4 and E4 +1 are not only transmitted from just
Astra 2D, but also the same beam, transponder, polarity and frequency.

    Transponder 42, Astra 2D, 10,729 vertical:

    E4 UK +1
    E4 UK
    Channel 4 London
    Channel 4 South & East +1
    Channel 4 Midlands +1
    Channel 4 North +1
    Channel 4 Northern Ireland +1
    Channel 4 Scotland +1
    More 4 UK

Do an 'add other channels' style search on your digibox and add them
in as 'other channels' and you should be getting the same problems on
all of the above stations. Astra 2D is very, very focused on the UK
and Ireland which is why you only need a tiny dish in comparison to
19.2 deg East Astra 1 constallation. See:
    http://www.lyngsat-maps.com/maps/astra2d.html so you shouldn't have
any reception problems on clear and cloudy days - thundery days are a
    different matter.
Do you have problems with any other channels?
Nope. Channel numbers are just a minor change to the EPG - the
    frequencies, etc. remain the same.

    over terrestrial aerials not satellite

Well you should start by ignoring BGN's post, or anything else that
    mentions satellites (e.g. Astra).

    Forget all you read.

Freeview uses 6 multiplexes (don't worry about the big scary word,
just think of a multiplex as the same thing as an analogue TV channel
on it's own frequency) each of thos multiplexes carries a number of
channels, as shown on the following page.

    http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/terrestrial/mux/

If you're missing a multiplex you'll also be missing all the channels
    associated with it.

That would explain why I'm missing itv, ch4 and E4 but not E4+1

I don't see how to solve the problem

  20. Guess that's why it never did come up on iPlayer, and now says
    "Not available".
