Dis anyone else catch the article on PM at about 5.45pm where some
gubbermint bint was being interviewed about plans to limit speed of
bikes. She suggested either a flashing warning light on the bike, or
vibrating bars when excessive speeds are reached.

The counterpoint was given by Steve Berry, it made me chuckle.

It's on Listen Again, starts at 37 mins in, worth a listen

Yep I was tuned in at the time. Warning lights and vibrating bars - I
couldnt believe it. I thought Mr Berry was quite entertaining. Cheered
me up anyway, even if the thought of the government's proposed
    'investigations' had me slightly worried.

Got to say that said bint may have had some odd ideas, but the raw
statistics of 1% of road traffic suffering 20% of the fatalities is
    fairly compelling.

Unfortunately Berry came across as a complete ****, and I certainly
don't want him to represent me in public debate.

The argument against speed limiters that keeps being trotted out is that
anything that changed the characteristics of the bike could prove
dangerous and possibly fatal. Oddly, I've ridden a number of bikes with
rev-limiters to stop me blowing them up - and have actuated them on many
occasions - but not once have I felt that they have made the bike more
dangerous or been a significant breach of my civil liberty.
