Not sure whether it's my connection or my newsreader, but here's my
    second attempt at posting this:

Okay, I take back everything I have ever said about the horrors of
    parenting.

My attendance at Wintersun has been seriously in doubt since my - ahem
    -
wheelchair incident... and I have been seriously concerned about my
    ability
    to witch.

This evening, my lovely non-motorbiking daughter suggested a Thelma
    and
Louise (without the cliff at the end) road-trip to Wintersun (if I
    hire the
car!) coz she knows how much I was looking forward to it. She is such
    a
    petal!

She is thinking it will be a nice mother-daughter road-trip, and will
    firmly
entrench her as my next-of-kin <evil grin>. I am thinking it would be
    a
fabulous opportunity to get her over her fear of bikes <even more
    evil
grin> once she gets there. She will also do the witching if my leg
    refuses to cooperate.

So.... pending next Monday's pronouncement from the surgeon it looks
    like,
thanks to my lovely girl, I won't have to miss Wintersun!

You probably won't ever see me say this again, but:
    AREN'T CHILDREN WONDERFUL????

That's fabbo news Betty ! I hope your ulterior motive manages to work
out.. rides together will be even more likely to entrench her as next of
    kin :)

I read it as exasperation at the game she's playing with her daughter..

Well, you started off okay, but now I'm going to have to refer you to
the dash police for abuse of punctuation. :p

No, the Dash Police are the correct authority in the aforemention
incident - hyphens and dashes are completely different punctuation
characters, and used in different contexts.

It's a bit hard to demonstrate properly in this environment, but
essentially a dash is used *between* words, whereas a hyphen is used
    *within* words.

(you should have sent someone other than the Pedantry Police to get me -
I put a sign on the front door containing a redundant tautology, and
they're just standing there arguing about it now)

  13. Yeah - but is a dash the equivalent of cruise control?

You're thinking of cars again Peter; bike cruise-controls are on the
    handlebars not the dash!
