    <snip amusing list of woe>

Sounds *exactly* like the problem I had with the Corvette when I first
got it. It was only the little specks of green powder that appeared on
the floor after a particularly hefty '**** you you fucking pile of
shit' kick that gave the game away.

The main earth lead from the battery, whilst looking perfect at both
ends & from the outside, was actually just a rubber tube full of said
powder. It could cope with a reasonable load, but bung some heat
through it & it ran away & hid until it cooled down a bit. Took me
weeks to track that little bugger down.

You're right, I do. Best I reply to it [1].

I've got one from Gnome too (formerly of this parish). Best I reply to
    that one too.

[1] For info, set 4 got lost in the post. Set 5 is due tomorrow.

Anyone that's likely to be going in contact with/live nearish to Statto?
I still have a couple of bottles of Longrow sitting on the side here.

    Pub quiz on Wednesday.

Crucially, if I leave the office at 5.30 it'll take me about an hour of
cross-town riding and motorway to get anywhere near Reading, let alone
do the wiggly bits via Wantage (in which case I'd blat down the M4 as
far as Chievley and do the run over the hill to Wantage anyway) which
would have me at the pub just in time to say hi and then turn round and
do another hour of motorway and cross-town riding.

Finally, after a 600 mile round trip to the Isle of Man, 9 days in
Italy, a 250 mile trip to Somerset and back and five days wallowing in
my own filth, I could do with a rest.

Make it a weekend gathering, not this weekday nonsense, and we can talk
    turkey.

    Gnome? I don't remember. I know we've got/had a leprechaun, a couple
of stumpies and a fair few short-arses[1], but a gnome?!

Note that the entrance to the pub carpark isn't on the main road, as it
appears on the Google satellite pic; it's on the little sideroad.

I bet it's a gravel car park, though. I have problems with gravel car
    parks at pubs.

    It is, but very compacted.

While I'm here, are people planning on eating there?
