Bugger, i'll have to do a write up now.

Can I summarise it as

Nearly hospitalising some of the Chimay throng around the campfire
after an ill-advised (read: a Chimay Bleu fuelled afternoon with
Dodger and Platy) Braniac experiment.

Filtering with extreme attitude all the way to the ferry on
unexpectedly busy autoroutes.

Finding 4 strong beers in the pannier out of 6 had died in the line of
duty.

Having read the wonderful prose submitted by Oggers and Boots, I'm
going to restrict myself to a brief precis.

The run to St Quentin was dispatched at a speed unheard of by my Wing
these five years past - not quick, by the standards of normal mortals,
but acceptable. The needle was between max torque and max power for
most of the trip (I suspect Oggers can't make the same claim )

I enjoyed the cross country hike through Guise and Hirson to Chimay,
and only came within five metres of being wiped out on the last
junction before the circuit.

I don't actually remember much of Saturday night, despite being the
uberlightweight.

Sunday, I woke to the call of the bladder. Later, we walked into town
for the traditional desecration of the patisserie lavatory.

Traditions were upheld. In style.

The decision to walk into town was a good one, seeing as it involved
sitting in the same bar, drinking Chimay for six hours. By 'eck some
right royal bollocks was talked, too. Probably.

I recall a consensus of disapproval that there was no bar to visit on
the way back to the circuit.

The others have covered the events of the evening, and the following
morning I packed up, got fed, and fucked off. At eleven.

I made the mistake of taking the N43 (or D1043, or D943, depending on
locality) to Cambrai, where I was confronted by the mother and father
of all diversions.

The Zumo's eta for Eurotunnel slipped from 13:55 to 14:15, so I aimed
for the A26 after Cambrai.

I pulled into the second services for a cup of brown, but it was
rammed solid, so I went straight through, which is when Oggers came
past. He'd have got away, too, had I not dispatched on of my ninja
bees to slow him down.

The rest of the run was dispatched at GL max cruise speed (90), and we
made the train with minutes to spare. About three, to be honest.

I left the other two at the first junction, and headed into
Folkestone[1] for fuel. £24 of Tesco's finest, and I was off to the
Leas Lift on the seafront. A marvel of Victorian engineering, it's
been beautifully restored (on one side) but unfortunately runs from a
shitehole at the top of the cliff, to a desolate wasteland at the
bottom.

Picture taken, and off to Rye. I took the M20 away from Folkestone,
then down through Hamstreet, Brenzett (where I was seduced by a Little
Chef Olympic breakfast), and down into Rye. I think this is the first
time I've visited Rye, and it hasn't been a Tuesday. Cricket Tour
fixtures were a touch "traditional" in that respect.

I found the lifeboat memorial without too much trouble, and set off
home.

A268/A21/M25/A2. Simple. Only problem: I kept nodding off.

Solution? Stand bolt upright, and sing along to the stereo at the top
of my voice. Got a few odd looks from folk as I overtook them on the
A21.

Home, unpacked the Wing, unpacked the bags, then unpacked the bowels.

Oh yeah, nearly forgot: some people raced motorbikes a bit.

Chimay by burning everything you could find. The initial rooting
through the rubbish to find cardboard turned into bunging entire bin
bags onto the fire. and then anything else lying around, including a
chair. Zymurgy exploded a wine bottle that we were still finding bits
of this morning.

Other than the dropping of entire bin bags of rubbish on the fire, I'd
forgotten all of the above. There really was something odd about that
chicken - even when I got up, 6 hours later, the fire was still burning
and the chicken was still intact.

Grimbergen really is very nice, but it's about 6.5% so a bit much for a
last tipple the night before a journey home.
