    Whatever settling there is (and I find there is some every time I had the heads
    off, though I never checked the exact amount), it works out to double that for
    the valve gap because you're moving the rocker pivot point.

    BMW airheads use paper head gaskets wit a metal reinforcement ring, and on the
    GS there's a paper base gasket to lower compression a tick.
