Good luck with it. If there's /any/ doubt at all, it might be worth
enrolling in an advanced driving course, just so you can show the beak
you're taking it seriously & trying to mend the errors of your ways of
    your own accord.

  3. I would imagine his mugshot is posted in every IAM office up and down
the country, with a message "Do Not Feed The Trolls".

Sounds like you'll be OK. I didn't think your car would do 123mph,
anyway. Where was this? On the Royal Military Canal Road, or the road
    past Winchelsea?

    On Sat, 7 Jan 2006 08:02:34 +0000,
My SSSSO Vectra did an indicated 135mph and that was in a stupid
state, the new Tino is in far better state of repair (having only done
4,000 miles since new) and its 1.8ltr doowopper has no problems with
speeding as it's quite a high revving block normally.

It was on the M20 heading to Junction 11.

Tip: Don't overtake marked police cars too quickly.

You'll get a fine, nothing else. They'll prolly stop you driving for a
few hours til you sober up.
Cloggies are much worse when you exceed the speed limit by more than
    50km/h.

  14. I could have, but I won't.

Y'see, I was't driving at the time. In fact I was in the bar at the
time. So was the officer. Very odd feeling to be sat drinking with a
couple of on duty coppers in full clad.

Not as odd, I would suppose, as being sat drinking with a couple of on duty
    coppers un-clad......

    Tip 2.

Do some work on your observation, before it kills you, or somebody else.

My thoughts exactly. I mean, at speed I'm not just looking out for
marked cars but also cars with no window stickers and too many arials.

  20. As Nick told it to me, yes.

It's happened to me a couple of times. I never quite have the courage
to say "You and I both know there's nothing you can do, so stick it up
your arse", so I always do the "sorry sir" humble thing, and mildly
    hate myself for it.[/QUOTE]

It's happened to me, too, albeit by uniformed Plod and not at that sort
of speed. Never hate myself for it, though, because fair dos - if you
take the piss, expect to have to eat humble pie if you're called out
    over it.[1]

[1] Just occurred to me - this is a kind of metaphor for Usenet as
    well....
