My step daughter, moved away, got a kid?
We prefer it to the alternatives.
As can she or she wouldn't have been elected group rep at college?
You really don't have a clue. I wouldn't even have the audacity to
assumed what your kids are like. Maybe I was just brought up properly?
Maybe that's what they like you to think? She has her red belt
Taekwondo grading next Sunday. She also used to 'sort out' any fights
at school that were unevenly matched. She also hates bullies and
arrogant people. They say it's the quiet ones you need to watch. ;-)

    All the best ..

True, but then we wouldn't have had a child would we?

I'll explain if you are that interested.

Meh, they have 4/ substitutes Zozzo. ;-)
I met my current Wife when I was 34 and she 40. I hadn't really
thought about having kids, but time wasn't going to wait for me to get
naturally paternal and the risk of not potentially out weight the yes.

There were some conditions though ... my Mum had to be willing to be a
child minder (she was) as the Mrs didn't want to stop as she did with
her first 10 years earlier. Also, in the event of me not being a
natural / comfortable Father we agreed I would look after the Mrs and
she look after our child. We even got married (lunch time from work,
old romantic fool I am <g>) because I wanted to ensure I had both the
rights and obligations to our child.

As it turns out she was a Daddies girl and we have shared loads of
good stuff. Yesterday she was laying paving slabs with me in the
garden. I did let her have a glass of my Special Brew in return
    though. ;-)

She has really only just left school and even when she was at school
she was involved in all sorts of things in the evenings, be it guitar
and piano lessons, dancing, recorder group etc etc. We all used to go
out cycling every Saturday till the Wife's Mum and Dad became ill. Her
Dad died a couple of years ago and her Mum a fortnight ago. I hope we
can get back to the cycling soon, especially now the Mrs new knee
seems stable. The Daughter is a very powerful stoker on our Thorn MTB
    Tandem! ;-)

She took herself off at 6 this morning (apparently) to meet the Tree
Surgery guys (they had two jobs to do in London) and is probably up
the pub with them now. (I got a text earlier asking if it was ok to
pick her up later hence why I think they will be having a drink). ;-)

However, I will be happy when she's settled in her own place and we
can focus on our lives again (not that we can't now mostly but she
    likes being with us).

    All the best ..

Why are there question marks on everything? Is that 'the step daughter
    has a kid'?

    snip
Oh I do. You don't get UKRM. That's OK, on many days I don't but
sometimes, just sometimes you get in a groove. If it's any consolation
Try it, you might find it helps to imagine a different world.
    Maybe.

Very, but oddly NOT with the more criminal element.
    That's not a methodology :eek:P
Out of touch with what? Just out of interest, how old do you suspect I am?
I'm not really interested in getting into a discussion about whether I'm
a better equipped woman than your daughter.
To be honest it feels awfully like you're trolling. I'm not taking the
piss out of your daughter. I'd love to talk to *her* about her current
experiences, aspirations and concerns. What you're getting is 50%
concern for the welfare of another person and 50% disappointment in your
estimations of your child's innate ability to cope on her own if challenged.

Tbh, if my dad was telling the internet this much information about me
behind my back, I'd be a stroppy little girl.

I'm posting alot because I'm off work and feeling under the weather.

I've only fathered one, but there are four out there who call me
dad...and hundreds who call me uncle.

Yes? (I used a ? on the reply as it was rhetorical. Like, and?)
I do, it's on this interwebby thing?
Time for some better tyres methinks.
It isn't, mainly (with respect) because I couldn't care less.

.... anyway where were we before I stepped into the parenting class by
mistake, oh yes ... the Hartfield 125's might be cheap and Burwins
stocking the spares is good ... but we are still unsure if to sell her
Piaggio scooter and actually get a geared 125 on the basis she's
probably only going to use it for local runs for the forseeable and:

Its cheap to ensure (for a 17 year old, some Co's said they wouldn't
touch her even as a qualified rider on the CB250 at 17. I currently
have a Comp policy on the CB250 for me and the Mrs for just over £100
and it would go up to £400 TPF&T only if we put her on it when she
    qualifies).

    Economical (100+ mpg)

It's light / small enough for her to handle under all conditions.

Cheap to maintain (tyres / general spares etc).

On the flip side it wouldn't be as planted as something 'bigger' or as
    fast?

*I* think this could be a candidate ...

Mag wheels = no tubes (so you can use Ultraseal if you want), front /
rear disks, upright riding position (she doesn't like sports bikes or
real cruisers) and could be a reasonable price second hand.

    *Excellent*.

You won't mind if I **** your daughter up the arse then?

(Sorry this post is a bit late, I've been busy; you're not the only
bloke whose daughter takes it up the arse. Still, patience is its own
    reward).
