Bike battery

Discussion in 'Australian Motorcycles' started by Fraser Johnston, Jul 18, 2007.

  1. Looks like I have deep cycled the battery in the VTR and it is stuffed. I am
getting sick of bump starting the bike every time I stop somewhere. So that
leads me to the following questions:-
    1. Do bike batterys deep cycle or do I just need to do a long ride to charge it
    up?
    2. If battery is deep cycled where do I get a new one in Perth without paying
    too much?
    3. Any tips on fitting a new battery?

That's a good start. An excuse for a long ride is never a bad thing!

You might want to run a voltmeter over it when running to be sure that
it is being charged when you rev as finding you are not charging when
you are miles from anywhere would be a good thing.
If the Battery World franchise is in Perth, try them. Ring around
first, as they don't all have the same batteries.
Vaseline the contacts and check the level regularly.

  4. Factory batter was $199. Ended up getting a cheaper one for $75 fitted.
