Anyone got any recommendations (or dis-recommendations) about
    breakdown/recovery services?

Got to ride an unknown beemer from Scotland to the west country next
week, and think I'll take the precaution of joining one of the 'get you
home' services - but which one?

    Cheers

Who's your insurer? If you're insured through Carole Nash, breakdown cover
    is included.

emerged from their own little world to say
If, as Platy says, your bike insurance does not cover you then there are
quite a few brokers selling the same EuropAssist policy

E.g. KwikFit insurance want £70. Cheapest I could find was
    http://www.quotelinedirect.co.uk/main/index.asp who sell it for £59. It's a
full monty type policy including European cover. I have it on my car. If
you don't need to keep it on the bike it is easy to log onto their website
and change the vehicle details (car or bike) as often as you want. All of
the documents are retained online and you just print them off as you need
    them.

    So what's he done wrong?

And don't say lack of context, because the subject line is plenty.

I suppose, if you were a pedantic ****, he should really have included
an attribution to indicate you were the person before him in the
thread, even if he didn't want to include anything you'd said in your
    post.

But you'd really have to be some sort of **** to let that bother you.

  11. Since when? The took my Bindit back home after a prang. That was about
    18 months ago.

  12. They charged me £144. I thought it was a mistake so I checked. Turns
out both AA and RAC charge for recovery following a prang. Britannia do
    not.

If I ever crash I'm gonna claim I've got a flat tyre and need recovery
cos the recovery bloke aint gonna GAF.

  13. You better make sure you slash the tyre then because I've had two
punctures and the AA fixed both of them.

Was the vehicle off the road? All the breakdown firms I've seen impose
charges for getting the vehicle back onto the road first.

It is after all a /breakdown/ service.

  18. Undrivable but on the road.
True. However I'd rather have free reocvery as well as breakdown when I
renew, if that's ok by you.

  20. Cheeky lying cunts.

They *did* charge did they? Britannia *did* tell me they'd give a
invoice but the payment of it would be optional. The idea being that if
you were going to claim on your insurance you could include the invoice
in the claim *if you wished*.
