Virtually the same engine right up until the L9, when they beefed up
    the internals.

At least I've stopped crying when I talk about it now. Almost.
    Now I'm dithering again...

A load of other stuff changed though, particularly the suspension.

It might, on the other hand, be happier dying whilst performing a last
but active service for its mistress.

    Anthropomorphism overload warning.
As long as it doesn't want to enter in to a pact.

But it can be visceral, right?

Look - you know that and I know that. I'm simply trying to help LN
    make up her mind.

I have, I think. I need Pip to email me before I change my mind again.

    Oh, I dunno, you know.

I've killed lots of cars, some of which I've been driving up to the
point of expiry (some of which I've been very close to at their point
of expiry into the fence) and a few bikes too, by various means.

    Dead, Jim, dead.

No, but it can deliver a visceral experience.

I was on the phone earning a gold star and a cookie. I have replied
and am flattered by the speed of your service. Or something.

I'd buy decent tyres that warm up quickly because you'll appreciate
the extra grip and it's only a 1400 mile round trip so you'll not
wreck the sort of tyres you'd fit on a 400cc bike in that short space
    of time.

We're not talking big money and 1000 miles to wreckage stuff here so
just buy the best you can get for the bike and forget about the cost.
If you go cheap and lob it on the twisty bits close to the rally how
much money will a few months off work cost you?

It's her comfort blanket and I've told her on several occasions that
    she's stupid.

If she takes the Kawasaki to Germany and it breaks down it won't ruin
my trip because I won't be the one sitting by the roadside waiting for
assistance. Mike will wait with her because that's the way things are
(I'd do the same for Adie) but you can bet your last fiver that I'll
just leave a couple of smokes with her and be off on my way just the
same as I'd expect others to do to me.

How much cheaper than grippy sports tyres are they? The roads near the
rally are nice and twisty and for a few quid extra I'd go for the grip
that decent tyres would offer me.

This is what you can do on Pirelli Diablo Stradas, which are exactly
the same compound and carcass as a Metzeler Z6 sport touring tyre, just
    a slightly different tread pattern:

If LN needs any more than that then maybe she should consider signing
up for Team UKRM if it ever gets revived.

Btw, that's a 21 yr old girl riding the Daytona.

    Nice straight bat, however:

"It was because the 10R was so alive,
    animal and visceral"

    'nuff said )
