    Any body tried it? Any outfits particularly recommended or to be
    avoided?
    I'm not interested in organised tours, just the hiring bit.
    Ta.

    I was in Naples/Sorrento last week. I saw loads of scooter hire shops but
    no motorcycle hire shops. Some were larger capacity maxi-scoots, 500cc Tmax
    and the like, complete with hard luggage.

    I hired a Fiat Panda as it was likely to be quite chilly. That was
    expensive compared to say Spain. £150 rather than £75 for a week.

    ****. I can see why they only have scooter hire shops: a 125cc scoot is 300
    euros for a week, anything bigger at least 700 and a Ducati ST4 is 1070

    Interesting. Could be down to driving standards or insurance regs I
    suppose. Maybe I should consider France/Spain instead.
    Yeah, that's one of the ones I found. In fact they advertise in Bike.
    I was particularly disturbed by the deposit/excess (up to 5000 Euros!)
    Ouch.

    @h3g2000cwc.googlegroups.com:

    As you've got Bike, look up the ad for HC Tours - they are supposedly
    pretty clued up about such things.

    If you want to go to N Italy then hiring a bike in one of the adjoining
    countries might be cheaper - check out Slovenia which might be cheaper than
    other EU neighbours. It's a fantastic place to ride a motorcycle in itself.

    <googles>

    there you go - a TDM900 for 630 Euros for a week

    **** knows if they are any good but if they take *credit* cards then at
    least your money will be secure. Slazijet fly to Ljubliana too.
