    bikes on the policy

Might be worth a look before parting with your hard earned.

How much is a 99 RSV actually worth though?

I'm really not sure that's a "great" deal when you consider age, TPFT, NCB
    etc...

Just tried an online quote for my R1 (Yr 2000, 4 yrs NCD, South Coast) and
it came in at £ 96
Thats £ 100 cheaper than Carole

I just did a quote for my K and my F ... I pay 100 presently for FC on
the K and about 150 FC (I think) on the F.

These guys quoted 121 quid FC for both ... impressed.

Krusty and I noted savings with them last week[1]. You don't get
breakdown cover, nor cover for CIHAGM. Dunno about NCD protection. Plus,
who knows what they're like if/when you need to make a claim?

[1] or it might have been this week still.

124 quid fully comp on my VN 1500?
**** that's cheap. Thanks for spotting it.

I stuck with Auntie in the end as I need cover for Switzerland &
    Andorra plus CIHAGM.

Ebike does include breakdown cover for the UK.

    I'm not. Cheapest FC quote for a '98 9R was ukp638.40.
I'm not sure what my premium is exactly but it's nowhere
near that high. In fact, a quick check on the H&R site
    comes in at ukp274.

And legal cover. For me however it is their Pay as You go scheme that is
most impressive. I just ended mine as CBR goes to sleep until April.

£205 fully comp for the fleet even though the Harley ticks virtually
every box in their "has it been modified" list.

    What's the catch?

Very cheap for me, but it sounded too cheap.

Who are they? Some of these online companies are a front for well known
    larger companies.

Gibraltar based company but licensed in UK (or whatever the legalistic
term is). Google this group from a few months and you'll see quite a
lengthy discussion on the subject of eBike and Gibraltar.

They do have a UK call center. It is located at the old Aust services on the
M48 by the Severn Bridge. I've spoken to them when I had a query about NCB
and found them pleasant and knowledgeable.

I took a policy out a couple of weeks ago. £170 for my R1150GS compared with
£229 from BMW and £260 from Auntie Carole. Lack of CIHAGM didn't bother me.

I guess the proof of the pudding will come when we start to hear about their
claims handling. Hopefully I won't find out for a while!

    Fair enough.
Ah I didn't spot that. Still I'd like to know more about them. I've had
to put up with shitty companies before when dealing with a claim and I
    changed to CN shortly afterwards.

Got me and my Bandit under £100!

    I remember in 1986 when I paid over £1,000 [1] to insure my Z400 [2].

[1] What would this be worth in today's money?
[2] Probably my favourite bike I've ever owned [3]
[3] Nostalgia nearly got me a Z650 instead of a Bandit

    I did look at it, £35.70 a month for my ER-5 TPF&T, it's more than I
pay now, but if I was going to put the bike away for a few months a
year it would be quite useful to have.

It looks good value, they appear to act as their own broker, so they
don't need to add another 20 or 40% on top of the premium as their
    fee.

My old CBR1000F was £22/month TPFT with breakdown and legal. Insured it
since Aug, cancelled yesterday. Ill re-insure it on 1st April when I put tax
on it again and MOT it. (Sent tax disk back for rebate yesterday).

I wonder if they're dodging insurance tax or paying a "donation" to the MIB
    by working from Gibralter?

    <grabs insurance docs>

    I paid £339.86 for a years worth of ER-5 TPF&T including insuring
things like the hugger, heated grips, crash bars, yadda yadda, licence
held for about two hours, no NCB. Included in that cost was legal
cover and 90 day trips to Europe.

I will certainly try ebike when I renew for an annual insurance.

I know that not many of you have worked in the insurance industry, but
a few of the regulars and I have. It's worth noting the following:
The insurance industry works like a vacuum. When a company is trying
to suck in people they will chop off their profit and fees and when
they've got enough people they will pile up their profits as much as
they can. This may mean that when the time comes to change to ebike
the quote might seem quite good, but you may be able to beat it. This
is with ALL insurers, not just ebike.

In short: If the quote is great now, it may not be in three months
    time.
