I know where I can go and look at some magnificent racks. Good racks
don't come with bags. It's a contradiction of terms really.

Some racks mount on such flimsy-looking frames you really have to marvel
at the engineering! (Honest; that's all I was marvelling at....)

It looks like they may suit a Ventura rack especially when you buy the
    double

Some great racks are mounted on very sturdy frames...

That is a very nice rack. I was sort of expecting Christmas Clem.

There was a story in the paper with aussie companies crying that
people are buying from overseas and want the $1000 limit lowered to
    400 before you pay GST..
Hope my shocks arrive before that happens.

  11. It's not just GST. If the value of the goods is AUD1,000.00 or more
(calculated on the Reserve Bank exchange rate on the date of purchase),
then you're liable for customs duty @ 5% assuming you're not importing
wine or tobacco, where the rules are different. Then they add shipping.
Then they calculate GST based on that total price.

And they (Customs) combine multiple shipments from the same consignor to
the same consignee. So you need to make sure your bits are shipped a
couple of weeks apart at least.

    ....and, it's not just that.

You get to waste a whole day stuffing about at the international mail
exchange being treated like a criminal.

Dunno what they do if the person lives out of town, but I got my
presence requested... no substitutes, no ring-ins... took the whole day
to process them taking money from me, and I distinctly got the
impression that I was relatively lucky.

  14. Hmm. Normally all they do is send you an invoice, and release the
parcel(s) from bond once they've received payment. Did they require you
to open your package while they watched?

Oh, yes, indeed.... and explain what it was too.

A front disc brake and a pair of good front forks to fit a Z50 take some
explaining when all you have are the bits and pieces and the person
looking at them knows nothing about motorcycles.

Accessory parts for a Z50 take some explaining even when the person
looking at them does know motorcycles :)

Next time you should probably take the Z50 with you.

  18. Explaining to anyone why you would want a Z50 would take more

  19. Well you could weld 26 of the engines together and maybe get some
    reasonable horsepower ...
