Bike parts - Sydbey

Discussion in 'Australian Motorcycles' started by Kevin Gleeson, Jun 2, 2010.

  1. A mate here has had a job to clean out a property. He knows I have a
bike history and he has ridden in the past. he says this place has a
shitload of 60s, 70s bike bits. Bultaco was one he mentioned but he
couldn't really define what was there but it sounded like a
combination of Euro and Jap bikes (Oh and he did mention a Harley, but
    I promptly ignored that).

Nothing in working order but from what I can gather, a hell of a lot
of parts. He is going to dump them on the tip in the next few days,
but I think there might be stuff there that some people might want.

Thing is, I can't think how he can advertise what is there if he
doesn't know what he is looking at. He's got a rough idea, but he'd be
lost looking at a carby and wouldn't have a clue where it came from.

Rather than it all be binned, anyone got and idea where he could sell
it or at least donate it to a worthwile cause?

And don't ask me for details as I haven't seen the stuff and asking
him is not going to provide any more information than I have given
here. Yes, vague. But just seems a waste to see what may be rare parts
    go to the tip.

Much of it can be peddled around some of the old farts clubs I guess ,
or advertise a clearance sale over the weekend in local papers and here
    with make an offer ?

I don't have the contacts in Sydney but John at Motociclio might
    http://www.motociclo.com.au/

Contact him and tell him I dobbed him in as someone who might be able
to take the parts or know someone who can.

If the worst comes the worst I'll take them if there's only a cubic
    metre or two.

  4. Ta Zebs. You're a great bloke :p

I dunno what or how much is there. And he has to move this stuff this
weekend. I just had a feeling there might be stuff there that people
could use. He'd probably be happy to donate it rather than throw it on
the tip. But it might be all junk. I just don't know.

I've asked him to give me a list of the more identifiable parts as
soon as he can and we'll see what happens from there.

I'm in NZ this weekend alas. I hope John can manage to at least
    eyeball it.

  8. This guy cannot work out how to answer an SMS on his mobile let alone
    get on EBay . . .

I've got a couple of email responses and will pass the numbers to him
tonight. Soif anyone else is interested email me today before I get to
    the pub tonight.

Clue 1 "I have a lot of motorcycle parts I dunno what to do with, I
might just throw them in the tip"
Clue 2 "I have a vague technical clue and can just about manage to
    setup an ebay account"
Clue 3 " I've just moved into a rental place with multiple bedrooms
    and no flatmate"
    Clue 4 " I'm complaining I don't have enough money to buy a bike"

Ferfuxsakes Gleeson _ don't you have an entrepreneurial bone in your
body ? Take delivery, then start identifying and ebaying. Your worst
case scenario is having to pay for a skip to ditch it all into.

  10. Oi you. I'm concentrating on a certain bank job :p

And no, I don't think the immaculately polished floorboards in the
spare room would handle a truckload of bike parts arriving there very
    well.

And I simply can't be arsed. This guy is capable of handling where
things go, he just isn't computer technology savvy. And he's helped me
out a lot getting into this place. So I'm trying to help him sell some
of this stuff rather than have to dump it.
