Does anyone know of any events over there? My mate and his wife are emigrating
there really soon, and I just wondered if they have an equivalent of the BSB, as
I am sure that the Moto GP and WSB have never been there.

They have a New Zealand Superbike Championship. Robert Holden (RIP)
was 10 Times NZS Champion, back in the '90s

  6. I had probably the only PAL VHS/TV system in Vancouver in the mid-80s
when Robert was riding for Wancouver Suzuki -- he and JoAnne used to borrow
my kit to show NZ racing videos at their parties.

It has to be said, that Robert was simply one of the nicest people you
could every meet. I never got the chance to meet Joanne.

He was so totally the opposite of most racers who need to be
recognised for their achievements. When I worked with Robert I had no
idea he had been NZS Champion, so many times. He just didn't need to
    be that kind of person.

For me, he was at his best either in the wet [1] or during the
endurance races at about an hour before sunrise [2]

[1] Awesome - Like Rossi now, but in the wet and 10 years ago
[2] more than once or twice he was pulled in for 'speeding'; that is
fastest man out there, but we were worried he might blow it.

  8. IIRC she was a leading NZ 250 Production contender, perhaps even
a Champion, in her own right. I used to deal with her at the dealership
more often than Robert when I was setting up the Gamma for racing at
    Westwood.
Yes, that type is seldom met, and sorely missed.
