But did he do it "happily"? One of my mates is in Spain now (for a trail
riding holiday), having ridden down through France on his KTM950SM.

    Ah, that's good then.
That's exactly my point. Gobs of instantly available torque is what you
want for silliness without effort, & that's what old style V8s do best.
Well obviously it wouldn't be your /only/ bike. If you ride for fun as
well as commuting/touring, you need a minimum of two bikes.
It's a good choice for non-essential transport imo. You know it will
breakdown & bits will fall off it, but who cares - the looks & sound
    make up for the inconvenience.

Well, he went on a bimble with us on the Saturday afternoon, so there
was no "there's no fucking way I'm getting on that thing until I have
    to" attitude from him.

Friiend went to that earlier in the week and was regaling me with
tales of a certain type of wine that I've now forgotten.

How long is it on for? I've got to go over to Brum next Thursday.
I'll take the train rather than the bike if the market is still on.

You too, huh? I've had thoughts about that and also cross-cultural
    training.

Then again, maybe I should setup an "Anger is good" school of sales[1]
teaching people how to harness their anger into something
contructive[2]. "Ride the Rage or, how to turn a character defect into
    closes"

[1] Never done sales properly myself.
[2] Don't know how to harness anger.

  12. You could try slowing down less. Which, I am given to understand, is
    the currently accepted methodology.

    but not impossible.

  17. I found that with a great many bikes. Honourable exceptions were my old
RD350 YPVS and my present Ducati. Oh, and the 400 Four. Bikes I've kept
for eight, ten and nine years, respectively.

Don't think I've kept any other bike for more than four years, and
    usually a lot less.

Well they're short, obviously - about the length of the bigger dry
    slopes.

In terms of the quality of the snow, the Snow Dome, in Tamworth, is
crap - very icy. The Snowzones, as in Milton Keynes and Castleford,
    are very good.

It's that 'character' thang. I've had the Fantic for summit like 23
years, simply because it's barking mad. It's total crap at just about
everything, *apart* from putting a huge grin on my face.

Likewise the Corvette, which I've had for 9 years or so (& used
regularly for several years before that). My old porker ran rings
around it in every measurable way, yet I always enjoyed driving the
'vette more, & I've still got it long after the porker went.
