Tartans were mostly invented in the 19th century, yes. I suspect
kilts themselves have been around a lot longer.

If you haven't got a job, I suppose having a clan is some kind of
pisspoor consolation.

I stayed at Woodside B&B just outside Fort William. Since I visited a pub
has opened within walking distance. Very friendly place. They now offer
self catering too.

The picture of the 2 bikers in front of the log shed are mates from
Gloucester & Cheltenham who must've followed my recommendation! I've no
idea who the other 2 are.

I spent 5 days there. It's an excellent base for a touring holiday. Skye &
Applecross are nice daytrips.

 

Is this like the "my bike is the best in the world" thing? Or is it that you
have never ventured outside of Essex?!

It works for me, though the nice blonde horticulturist that Loz met on
the day lives in Bangor. She is trying to move out again though.
That said, I've yet to meet any nice (available) female bike owners on
this side of the water, though most people like bikes and the racing.

While the SoE has an undeniably high T quotient they seemed a bit harder
to mount IME
