"Shock tactics and campaigns by police are having little effect on the
death toll of motorcyclists on Welsh roads, a BBC investigation has
    revealed."

    Still, it's only Wales...

  3. 'Breaking the speed limit is a factor in 4% of motorbike fatalities'

I wonder if in an article pretty much devoted to 'speeding', anyone will
    even notice that line.

'"Since the accident, my personal opinion is that they should ban
motorbikes altogether, but I know that can't be done," said his father
    Stephen'

    Patience ... patience ...

  5. It always makes good viewing. Media created sensation. I suppose the
word "Hell's Angel" is getting a bit thin so look for something else.

Most of the riders these days are brummies anyway. I hardly ever go to
the main spots these days. It's been truly fucked up with too many
bikes. Still plenty of other places to go though.

    I saw it[1].
They didn't come across as 'mature', did they? And I think they would
have been better to show just a bit of humility.

FWIW, apart from the hard-shoulder[2] incident, they didn't do anything
    that I do fairly often.
It wasn't a bad programme at all, to be honest.

[1] via Sky, in case anyone thinks I'm from, or has moved to, Wales!
[2] it was more lane 0.5, I reckon.

I saw this too, all the way through. I thought it was pretty fair
TBH. It was made quite clear that excessive speed was involved in
only 4% of the accidents, and the programme did not have a speed = bad
theme. Brunstrom logic didn't get a look-in. The main cause
attributed by the programme to most of the accidents was inexperience,
either "born-again" bikers on bikes that are way too powerful for
their forgotten skills, or sunny Sunday cowboys who only bring the
bike out three times a year and expect to be Rossi within half an
hour. The main cause of fatalities was said to be failure to
negotiate a bend, which kind of says it all. Traffic volumes and poor
road design were shown to be major factors too. In all, quite
balanced. The two guys banned for the helicopter incident were mouth-
breathers from Stoke, and did nothing for the cause. There was a bit
too much of the grieving-parents-kiddies-at-Christmas stuff, from a
couple who were obviously too distressed to give any reasoned or
balanced response - the father wants bikes banned, and you couldn't
really blame him for those thoughts. If I didn't understand why
people ride bikes, I'd probably feel the same, in his circumstances.

The best part of the programme was the presenter Jane Harvey, who is
extremely fit and enhances any programme in which she appears. Nice
to see her again, as she had disappeared off the radar for a while.

That bloke annoyed me. His wife seemed fairly reasonable but the fact
was, the son died as a result of his bike hitting a kerb and him
hitting a lamppost. They admitted that no-one knows what really caused
    the initial incident.
    Indeed.

Was the AM DB9, with plate TNS 1, that she went out in, owned by
someone associated with Total Network Solutions perchance?[1]

[1] I hope that TNS win a trophy one day - I can just hear the
commentator: "They'll be dancing in the streets of Total...err..."

    Or Llansantffraid-ym-Mechain even.

Anyway, it appears that they are now known as The New Saints FC.

    Have they moved?
Ah, looks like they're now known as "BT iNet".

    Ah. Have they moved?
Seems the firm is now called BT iNet: "This new venture has been formed
from the integration of BT TNS and BT SkyNet. SkyNet and TNS were both
purchased by BT in 2005" That'll explain it.

L-y-M is where the ground is, although it appears that they are an
    incarnation of Oswestry Town.
I've been looking purely from the footie team angle, as opposed to the
company - I guess it's sort of your field, though.

I scammed my first and only PDA from TNS at an exhibition. They had a
competition running, one of those business-card-in-a-box affairs, to win
a Handspring thingy. Knowing that my boss was about to sign a deal with
them to supply loaaaaaaaaads of hardware, I said "if I swing this
contract for a couple of thousand Cobalt RaQs for you, make it so I win
the competition." Next day, boss duly signs the contract with them, two
days later the PDA arrives for me in the post. Boss was most peeved.

    Oh, how I laughed.

  16. So it's not a factor in 96%.
