    Hi

Has anyone done a bikesafe course?

I have the chance to do one in Cheshire and although I have been riding for
ten years I am still slower than ginge. I know its not about speed but if
it can help me go smoother and get more confidence it can't be bad, can it?

    What say the FOAK?

  3. I did one last june. It does have some useful info, specially picking the
right path through bends for speed, smoothness and visibility.

Loads of other stuff too. And you get a couple of DVDs, including one
similar to long way round about a couple travelling from north through to
    south america.

    I've done two.

£150 quid in total for 3 days of Police endorsed[1] speeding is worth
    every penny.

[1] Obviously they don't say this.

Do it. I found it very enjoyable and found it useful to get a coppers
    view on things.
It's nice to have some of your own tactics confirmed as appropriate and
    sensible as well :)

If you think it might help, do it. Certainly helped me, but I understand
they are different across the country.

What have you got to lose.

You obviously didn't get the same Plod I got. Soft **** wouldn't allow any
speed in excess of the limit. An absolute and utter waste of time, money and
    effort.

A day in your life and the cost of the course. Acceptable if it was fun, but
you've got to get the right Plod. I managed to snare the safety nazi and
ended up almost falling asleep on the wonderful twisty roads around Norf
    Yorkshire/

When you say Cheshire, are you talking about the one that takes place
over the w/e at Birkenhead fire station? I'd thoroughlly recommend it,
had a brilliant time when I did it a few years ago.

I believe the courses alter throughout the country, when I did it it
was 1/2 day tutorial, 1/2 day ride-out to North Wales, 2nd day 1/2 day
ride-out then the remainder of the day another tutorial. I believe
they also now incorporate the First Bike on Scene training as well,
    which is bloody good.

Other than knowing you can (probably) ride like a loon and not get
    nicked, what's the appeal?

Im booked on a Ridesafe one as opposed to a Bike safe. Basically a
police assessed ride of only 45 mins and they then give you pointers.

Free and probably a good thing for me :)

    That sounds more like it.

I'd happily cough up 150 quid to be able to ride like an absolute twat
for a day in the knowledge that I had legal immunity, but where's the
fun in paying someone to get picky-picky about your riding style?

To be a better rider. Obviously not possible in your case.
