There is a University plod that sits at the top and watches bikes pass
over the double yellow. When they get to the top the ticket is waiting.

That would be more of a deterrent. My outfit scared the crap out of
    everyone last year.

You think violence is bad? uncontrolled and misdirected violence
perhaps. Have you never sparred in a Boxing ring or gone for it without
    malice with a mate?

Oh no it's much more democratic in the States. The voters, the great
majority of the population, demand the death penalty for certain crimes.
The Legislature did as they were instructed (sadly lacking in the UK)
and the Administration carries out the tasks.
Democracy in action, the majority voters setting the legal and social
agenda. Not at all what our Administration and Legislature want at all,
    Oh No sir.

    Bollocks is it.
Anything more than a couple of days will certainly be unpleasant.
It can be very scary indeed. Lots of very violent people who don't
need any sort of an excuse to beat the crap out of you, or form a
lynching gang if they're not hard enough to do it on their own. You
can learn to live with it, but it takes its mental toll.

And muddy, of course, would be talking about US prisons, which by all
accounts make UK ones look like holiday camps.

    I doubt it.
Unpleasant for any length of time. It even gave me a creepy feeling when
I used to take people there to be locked up[1].

Oh, and no motorcycles in prisons either.

    [1] yes, I was a copper.

Jails south of the border are no fun either, so I'm told.

I should think sitting on a motorbike would be the last thing on your
mind after Big Bubba's had his way in the showers.
