You're very wrong, you know. Clearly we'll have to agree to disagree,
as you seem convinced, without actually saying why you believe this.

My own view is based on first-hand experience, as Champ hinted.

  2. Indeed. The vast majority also seem to vote Democrat.
But sadly a very powerful one.

As this is UKRM I was of course being overly simplistic. It depends
*where*. The Bar-L in Glasgow and a nice Highland jail are very
    different experiences.

Even the nicest "open" nick is still a very threatening unpleasant
    place to be.

I'm not trying to dis you. You found it so and that's valid experience.
In my yoof I really didn't give much of a **** and I had very strong
beliefs in certain directions. I've observed people going completely doo
lally though. If one was targetted by some other grouping inside
obviously that would also change things. I know one English boy who had
a roughish time in Porterfield (normally a nursery school), when the
Braveheart brigade took to taunting him, until they moved on to a new
    game.

Everything I read suggests the experience has become easier not harder.
Whether the media can be believed I do not know. I see Porterfield has
become the UK's most congested prison, which can't help.

*You* think it's a crime. Others consider it, and the current action in
    Lebanon, to be just fine.
"International law" is complete bollocks.......oh hold on we've already
    done that one.

One has to admit that (over Iraq etc) he has shown more backbone than a
British politician has a right to?

They were under a flowerpot, on a farm, in Somerset. The dog knocked
over the flowerpot whilst having a pee and voila! There they were.

Tsck. Keep up at the back.

We didn't go in to "save them" - we went in to save the world froom
imminent attack from weapons of mass destruction.

Saving the Iraqi public from tyranny only came into view when it
became apparent there were no WMDs.

I don't believe for one minute that PM Blair went to war just to tag
along with the USA. It's a bizarre suggestion comparable to the fringes
    of conspiracy theory.

Seems like the makings of a good plan. Nowt wrong with unpicking old
mistakes and making sure we have as much oil as we need.
Has anyone here asked the Kurds whether they thought it was all a good
    idea?
