I was just riding back up from town with provisions, on the very nice
twisty but bumpy section through the forest, when a small bird came
swooping across the road and hit my right shoulder with considerable
force. I wasn't even pressing on that hard. Never hit a bird before
except in a car. Glad it didn't get me straight in the visor!

    Was there any gore?!

When I was doing 'motorway speeds' on my ER-5 last year a bird
exploded on my wing mirror and covered my jacket and helmet with
blood. I had to smear bird-bits off of my visor so I could see
    through it.

I got some *very* odd looks riding through town on the way home
    covered in blood.

Despite the heat I was wearing my Wolf leather jacket and there is no
trace of feathered friend. Can't imagine it survived though.
