    Alcohol is a depressive chemical.
    Indeed, this really helped me.

I must get out on mine. I've got the Hell Of The North Cotswolds
(http://www.winchcombecc.org.uk/honc.html) on Sunday and haven't slung
a leg over a bike in a long time.

It's going to be painful I think.

I'm leaving home to return to work at 04:30 on Monday morning and then
it's 12 days of 12.5 hour shifts. I'm so lucky that I then get the
bosm weekend off before I return for more of the same until the TOG
trip to France. That assumes nothing goes wrong...

Haven't had any since November. I don't want to be taking pills for
ever; there are specific problems to address which are the root cause
of the way I feel. Having said that, the bike as therapy is good.
Just got in from a full day of riding with a bunch of others (in
excess of 80 bikes) for an Easter charity run (don't normally have
others to ride with) and I feel fucking amazing. The roads of the
Scottish Borders are a joy to behold.
    Cheers.

It was mid-summer last year when I was prescribed fluoxetine. Winter
pisses me off, yes, because I don't have the opportunities to ride the
bike that I would like. I have a number of personal issues that
require attention, satisfactory resolution of which would almost
certainly change things. When I get there I'll let you know, although
    I think I won't have to.

  8. *Ding*. And stay away from most of the other recreational chemicals
too. Most of them screw up your brain chemistry as badly as alcohol.
    *Ding*

(But not to excess as too much sleep is also one of the symptoms of
depression.. as I know all too well).

And another key - finding something else to do other than staring at
the walls. Go out and talk to someone, take up fencing, read a book etc
etc. I know from experience that just sitting there with your mind in
freewheel just gets you deeper into the mire.
