Unexpected xmas bonus yesterday which still hasn't hit home yet. Called up
to the office of the owner/chairman of the company. Found him and my
immediate boss, the tech director, there looking all formal like. General
chat about forthcoming company restructure etc, (by this point I'm thinking:
Merry xmas, here's your P45, so long and thanks for all the fish ...), but
no. Next he says, we thought you'd like to come on to the board!
<stunned>
So, it appears that I'm now the Director for Research & Development of a
£60m+ plc.
<even more stunned than beofre>
Missus has gone shopping and I'm getting rather ratarsed.
I know it's not going to be an easy ride but I'm actually looking forward to
the New Year for the first time in years.
Cheers all!

More SOBs of course.

Ever since I sold my old Jota to finance my first house deposit, I''ve
always fancied getting another. I think I'll fire up ebay in the new year.

Fantastic news mate, I'm chuffed to bits for you :)
Cheers. I just had to tell someone. Why not UKRM <thinks> Oh Shit.
To say the SO is chuffed would be an understatement! I stiil don't know what
to expect but what the hell.
they know I'm not PC in any way. I don't bullshit. i treat the company's
cash like it as mine, and i don't seem to have made a bad call yet.
<all ahead full>
Going to be an 'interesting' 2008.

Ta. Still don't know what I did to deserve it. the terms 'poison chalice'
and 'several yards of good hemp rope' spring to mind.

You have a degree of knowledge of your specialist subject that's
frightening in its depth - frankly I'm amazed they haven't done
something sooner.

You'll do just fine; you're born CTO material.
FRO! I'm *far* too politically incorrect for that.
He already sponsors his sons MX team.
That really sums it up quite well.
