Yes they are 49% transparent in lower light it seems.

My Transition lenses seem to work ok in the car but I prefer polarized (and
    darker)

  2. Which is pretty dark if you're inside.
If they work inside the car, you must have some very much non-standard
glass in it. Or a soft top that's always down.

  3. Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique,
I have moved to an HJC, which has a much better inner visor design than
the Lazer[1]. I'd like it to be a little darker, but it does its job.

[1] You can have the dark visor down, and the flip-up up. or example.
    Nice around town.

Schuberth C3 - not at all clunky and jolly nice all round.

I use transition (Photogrey) glasses. I once tried a polarized visor.
The combination of two polarized lenses on top of each other created a
phantasmagorical, downright psychedelic moire of rainbow colors that
was fun to watch while going through twisty sections. Not.

Just to add an outlier data point, I almost always wear sunglasses. I
can't stick having the visor down, unless it's raining or the insects are
particularly large, but I do need some way of avoiding being blinded by a
    stag beetle.

I do live somewhere sunny, though.

Was that the only reason you were stopped though?

And that's when speeding in abysmal weather conditions. When I'd more
than likely be using a clear visor anyway.

Aye. I'd already switched from black to clear and then back to
blackgoing to Calais. As it was pissing down, I'd already decided to
go back to clear when we stopped for fuel. I thought this was going to
be in Dover, but in the end Kiran went straight through to stop at
Maidstone. It was just that the cop car was the Dover side of
    Maidstone...

As mush as I can ascertain, yes. What he said to us made us think that
they had nothing much on us WRT speeding per se, but that doing the
speed we were in those conditions with black visors was probably not
the best thing to be doing, especially past trafpol.

I was going to stop, but the *route* out of customs at Dover seems to
have completely changed and I couldn't see where the BP garage on the
    exit was.

Still, that didn't stop me pointing out to said copper that my visor was
a light tint, kitemarked and thus legal. He did admit it wasn't as bad
as some once I'd said that. At this point, i thought I had better not
say anything about the additional fog city light tint insert. Best not
being too cheeky, what with two very loud and totally illegal exhausts.

I'd agreed with TBC and LN that fuel was a good idea as soon as we hit
port, and followed them off the ferry, whereupon they veered left on
some unknown trajectory, so I fucked off to the M20 and got fuel
    there.

There used to be one on the right hand side, just as you got out of the
port, didn't there? Where did that go, eh?
Like a whiny schoolkid: "But, but, but *mine's* not illegal, sir?")
He mentioned that the plates were all legal, and I was really surprised
    he never mentioned your Termis!

The one inside the port closed some time ago. There are two BP
stations on the other side of the road as you're heading for the M20
    from the port.

The easiest one to get to is after the 4th roundabout (including the
roundabout just outside the port which you may miss if you take the
new port exit). Do a 180 degree turn at the roundabout to enter the
services. The exit from the services is on the roundabout.

There are also services at J11 just outside Folkestone but they're
comparatively expensive. (the spill-chucker just offered me 'foulest'
for Folkestone; it's not far wrong!)

Going the other way there's a Total just after the roundabout at the
top of Jubilee Way and a 24 hour Tesco left at the following
roundabout then left again at the next 2.

I've had similar on the MV - pulled for doing 75 in a 60 & let off as I
"wasn't taking the piss with a small plate & loud exhaust". Those who
have heard the MV are probably thinking 'WTF?' at this point, as did I.

I wonder if the cops are so used to loud exhausts that you have to have
something really outrageous for them to take offence.
