Free Fireblade has gone to a new home, in return a guy
was very happy and placed £7900 in my hands.

    Were both happy now.

Oh well back to the Sprint.

Did I ever confess that I won my 1975 R90/6 (MCN competition)? Kept it a
lot longer (four years) on the basis that I would never actually buy
    one.

    In communiqué
    "They have fancy houses,
    Although behind and inside they are quite empty;
    They wear fashionable cloth,
They are equipped with the newest gadgets,
    They grow tired of good food and wine;
    They have amassed innumerable treasures.
I think they are rather robbers
who walk on those small roads."

The worst of it is that it's not even _that_ cheap. If you want decent
slurping wines in France there's a damn sight better than that at
    about half the price.

I gave a grand to my daughter, another grand to the wife, will
chuck 4 grand back into the account from where it was removed
to purchase the new Sprint in March and the rest will go on carpets
    and stuff in the house.

All in all a good deal al round.

the poncey bottle with the crooked neck probably costs more to produce than
    the contents...

    heh, exactly my thoughts

I've cut back my wine consumption but seem to be spending the same amount
each month. Bottles of generic Macon blanc are being replaced by estate
bottled Chablis. Similarly, generic merlots from SW France are being
    replaced by estate bottled clarets.

Paraphrasing James May, I may be turning into a wine ponce. Cock.

    List please.

I have tried a wide range of 6 bottles for 15 euros stuff, and less.
Like art innit - "I know what I like". It may be the Mc'Do's of wine,
but it seems consistent and is available from Tescos in Coquelles where
we dispose of the off few euro notes we have left. Though these days I
would be better stashing them under the mattress.

Almost certainly. Is cost of production always a certain indicator or
    quality?

I don't tend to remember prices, but any of the "Expert Club" or "Club
de Sommeliers" Rhones and Burgundies are usually good value at around
    3 euros/bottle.

But my cellar's currently got a few cases of Lidl's finest, with some
Aussie Cab/Shiraz at under 3 euros and a fair bit of a quite
respectable Montepulciano d'Abruzzo which is still available there
(well, it was a few weeks back) at Eu 1.85 a bottle.
