  4. yes their were witnesses apparently they had been hanging around for
some time one line of questioning is whether they were targeting the
bike , the bikes generally locked in a steel container so would be nigh
on impossible to nick once locked up

Apparently this stlyle of theft is becoming more common as bikes become
more secure (immobilisers and all that stuff) costs them to much to
change all the ecu units according to plod makes them more difficult to
    sell on

So they just stand around waiting for you to turn up? Geez! That's
nasty. A cruise up and down the street prior to driveway entry now
    required?

Still at least they don't have (on the whole) guns yet - but give it
    time.

Then I might move back to SA as, if the crime's the same, I'd rather
    have the decent weather ;-)

Although it's not from fear of a beating, in general I don't take my
helmet off until the bike's in the garage, or at least after I've
padlocked the 8' gates at the end of the service road that the garage
    is at the bottom of.

Removing the numberplate seems the way forward.

    following:
    Is that true?

  11. I can't imagine why he would say it if it wasn't. I'm sure there have
been plenty of posts about enquiries being made to the DVLA and there
being no real security check made. After all you are not required to
provide any security check information that would allow your identify to
be confirmed by the DVLA person answering a telephone enquiry. It's all
    done on trust.

  12. All you need to do Paul is give them a justified reason for the
information , (should have written that in my original post)

This can be something as simple as its been left in my field and i need
to move it been involved in an accident (non injury) pay your fee and
they post the info out within 14 days

Going off on a different track here but even if the scrotes are not
found I would look into making a claim through the Criminal Injuries
Compensation Authority <www.circa.gov.uk> There's even an eligibility
questionnaire on their website. You can also claim for your daughter
too. They will also take into account factors such as psychological
    injuries because of the crime.

It's a big slush fund paid into by the taxpayer to compensate people
like you and your daughter if your qualify.
