Actually not doing much driving at the moment since I knocked some one
down with my train the other week.

Off sick with Trauma Reaction or something!

    Bugger, nasty. Jumper or accident?
    Not surprised.

Cardigans are deliberate, only jumpers can sometimes be described as
    accidental.

  5. If you call climbing down onto the track *jumping*, then I suppose
that's what it is. Was intentional anyway. And then she (for it was a
she) walks away with a scratch on her finger.... bloody Turkish immigrants.

Still, I'm told that the timing's rather handy as it's left me able to
watch some football tournament that's occurring - pity I hate the bloody
game and would rather be at work.
I'm off to see my counsellor next week, so that will sort it all out I'm
    sure!!

Lucky cow. Was that al down to your quick reactions, or did she just
    get lucky?
    Now now.
Yes, I noticed quite a few of the pubs in the centre here had some
sort of ball game going on - many of the viewers were wearing those
"I'm an idiot driver" hats, for some reason.
Is this an automatic enforced absence? Sometimes makes you wonder if a
bit more of a "stiff upper lip" attitude might be in order. But I
suppoe the unions would insist, and clearly for some folk it would be
    a good thing.
    Heh.

  7. Well, I hit her and she fell into the suicide pit. I was already
braking and just pushed the train into emergency when I realised what
was happening - not a lot more to be done. If she didn't climb down
halfway down the platform she might have had a better chance of being
successful (if that's what she really wanted)
We're getting a lot of it happening in North London (it was at Bounds
Green) at the moment. Three in as many month, all immigrant women.
There is a theory going round that it's the same one keep doing it.
More 'the done thing'. I could insist on going back, but then 2 months
free holiday... it would be churlish not to accept! They prefer for you
to take a week or two in case of any delayed reaction.

  9. Well I didn't actually leave Arnos Grove thinking 'I must knock someone
down with the train' if that's what you mean, but she did climb down
onto the track of her own volition.
But lovely weather for it you must admit ;)

climbing down doesn't show a lot of commitment to the whole suicide
thing - jumping's the only true way, surely.
    indeed - enjoy.

  11. Quite, and jumping at a point where the train hasn't actually slowed to
    c20mph anyway would help.

She was halfway down the platform and climbed down as I entered so I had
about 2-3 seconds to sit and watch her come towards the train knowing I
could do nothing about it. She could, of course, have been very unlucky
and just lost the odd arm or leg - that is very common too.

  12. Oh it was that one was it?

I remember reading the daily report and thinking it was rather odd that
she emerged with virtually no injuries - this is rarely the case with
such incidents. There were two attempts in the area that were the same
person - within a couple of days of each other IIRC.

The top of Jubilee Line was shut down for hours yesterday after a woman
threw herself under a train at Queensbury. Dead on this occasion.

  13. Yes, everyone seems to have a copy of the IRF except me it seems :s
And only a 35 minute shutdown I'm told. They were very impressed.
Someone who knows how to do a job properly. Although I'm sure there
must be better and less messy ways of doing the deed, and not affecting
quite so many people if you really must. I don't suppose that's your
main consideration if you're in the frame of mind to consider suicide in
    the first place though.
