Bloody battery.

What a fckuing morning. The battery had drained whilst I was away on
holiday (probably the alarm amongst other things) and it's been nearly
three weeks since I got on the bike. Not a problem I thought. Just
stick the battery charger on, to give it a boost.

The procedure to access the battery on the Z1000 is as follows:

    1. Remove rear seat.
    2. Remove front seat
    3. Undo 6 allen bolts
    4. Remove plastic cover
    5. Lift up metal bracket

Then I found out that the battery is not only upside down, at an angle
of 45%, but the bloody connectors are at the bottom!

30 fckuing minutes to get the space to connect the leads and get the
bike started and the bits back together. There's not enough space to
swing a flea under the seat of my bike. The ABS unit doesn't help as
it takes up a good chunk.

Optimate tails are *soooo* last century. Built-in accessory sockets
are where it's at these days, dontchaknow.

A pair of chunky flying leads sounds like a possible answer to future aggro.

I want to get an optimate charger style connector, so I can rig up a
lighter socket to optimate plug adapter. Any idea what those
    connectors are called?

Depends on which style optimate, but if you google Tamiya connectors
    should find 'em.

I think you could be right. Looking at the other posts, an Optimate
charger and leads may be the way.

I've got Optimate leads on mine and the battery is a piece of piss to get
at. I've got a "Bagster" seat (one piece, nice) so a turn of the key in the
tail unit and the seat is off. There's no cover of any sort over the (right
side up) battery either, which makes access a doddle.

Mine's an earlier Zed than yours though, so it looks like they made
something easy to do (change the batter) a nightmare.

Simon is correct. I made a mini-usb charger for phone and gps by bodging
an old car socket one to a Tamiya connector for the Tiger.

On the ZZR1400 they wire in an Optimate lead as standard.

I think that's the problem. Apparently the ABS control unit and gubbins
takes up most of the space underneath the seats.
