i like to cut things fine, had just decided to do me DAS, but the local bike
training centre can't fit me in untill the middle of august, and that's if i
do a 3 day course.. can't afford a 4 day course that everyone seems to take
(£495, £425 for the 3 day course is pushing it a bit for me)

So maybe i'll have to do me restricted test instead, can't do that untill
the 7th of august.. that means doing some training on the saturday before..
my GF's birthday.. don't think she'll be pleased at that,

I really wanted to do my training this week, test next monday.. can't do
    that here it seems,

So now i'm wondering about going somewhere else to do my test.. I'm based in
the midlands.. near nottingham, (Grantham actualy) but i don't want to do my
test in a big city, small town is much prefered,

We've got the motorhome, so we can go anywhere really, but within reason,
    say a 100 mile raduis,

Can anyone recomend a good town to do a bike test in.. and if possible a
training firm to go with in that town.. and roughly how much for a 3 or 4
day DAS course.. i have my CBT, done 500 miles last week on my 125 around
town and country roads, but before then i last rode 10 years ago,

Idealy i want to pay no more than £400 to do my DAS,

    Any recomendations.

I think (and I stand to be corrected) that most training schools book blocks
of tests well in advance and cancel unused test 10 days prior to date for a
    full refund.

So if this is the case you may only get a test within the next 10 days if
    they have a late cancellation.

You do know you're going to be spending money driving around don't you?

Dunno, but you might be hard pushed considering it's mid-summer and peak
    bike season.

This is an exception that is acceptable to many authorities on the
subject. Clarity of meaning is the aim of the game.

    Who are these 'authorities'?
If I see "We had a meeting with the DBA's" it doesn't improve the
clarity for me - just looks like they've missed a word off ;)

Campaign for Plain English, for one.
That is because you did not make the effort to rephrase the statement
to avoid use of the potentially ambigous apostrophe. That is, you
failed to strive for clarity of meaning.

"The DBA's had a meeting with us"

"We attended a meeting which was also attended by the DBA's"

"A meeting was held this morning, attended by me and the DBA's"

I'm honestly struggling with how to rephrase this statement.

Cheers, got it now, 34 out of 35 for the theory part, 10 points for the
double hazard clip, then 8 clips with 5 points, 3 with 4 points, and 2 with
    3 points,

Did it in about 20 minutes, half of that was waiting to hear the
introduction to the hazard perception part of the test.. i know how to click
the mouse and when.. but couldent skip that part.

Now to get me DAS.. well a loan first, then me das, then flog me current
bike, and buy a virago.. then sit it in the garage and polish it all day
every day as i wont have any cash left for petrol :)

Been looking at psm-csm training centre.. in peterborough, they do a 4 day
das course for £399, bike hire and test fee included, only down the road so
i'll prolly get there on the quarter of a tank of go-juice i already have in
the motorhome, fine a small camp site (CL thing.. farmers field with
electric hookups and not much else.. 3 quid a night) and i'm sorted... just
need to find out when they can do me a das course asap.. not replied to me
    e-mail yet.

I am a little concerned at doing me test in peterborough, (well, i'm more
concerned that i'm even considering going to peterborough in the first place
:) but it's either that or wait till the middle of august, then if i fail..
it's september untill i can try again (i take it the 2 week wait before
    another test still applies)

And i really wanted to take the GF to scotland for her birthday, and have
the bike to go cruising around on up in the highlands.. she needs to be on
the back of course or she won't let me get the virago.. always a catch aint
    there :)

Try thinking outside of the linguistic box. And if that doesn't work,
restructure the organisation and call them something else :)

  17. My DAS had to be booked about 2 months in advance, and that seemed to be the
    norm.

I did mine with an excellent trainer in Aylesbury, with my test in Leighton
Buzzard, but that's prolly a bit too far for you.

Phone around, training centres always have cancellations.

That's pushing it a bit. Why not tell the training centre that. Tell
them you can do short notice.
