From the British Geological Society website: Do earthquakes occur in Britain? YES, between 200 and 300 earthquakes are detected and located in the UK, by the British Geological Survey annually. Although distant from the nearest plate boundary, the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, earthquakes occur as crustal stresses within the tectonic plates are relieved by movement occurring on pre-existing fault planes. The risk from these earthquakes is not insignificant and must be considered when engineering for sensitive installations. Phil
I was a little angry at the induced screen wobble. I thought it might be a brain haemorrhage, but as with all things, it passed, and I feel nothing once again. My favourite 'quake comment was from Guardian reader Nick; "Some jiffy bags were dislodged from some high shelving in our office. I can only thank God that no one was standing underneath at the time."
Same here. I initially thought the cold water tank was about to come through the ceiling. Which wouldn't have been fun as my bed is directly beneath it.

Well, yes, but. First OO Course I got sent on back in the early 90s. Literally the first couple of slides, those very same logical cows. I knew that.
Half past one this morning, my place rattled and rocked slighlty, Enough to make me check outside to see if we had an uninvited visitor coming through the wall, but .... bugger all to see. One of the dogs didn't like it though. -- Beav VN 750 Zed 1000 OMF# 19
My ex mother-in-law slept for 3 years with a fully assembled RD400F in her loft, directly above her bed. She went fucking spastic when she found out.
Raises some questions! How did you get it up there. If "in bits" why did you construct it up there. How did you get it down. etc etc
Took it up in bits, loosly assembled to keep all the parts together, and stripped to come down again.
