    Yeah, don't lose it!

I think mine is because not only does it have ecu-matched security
gubbins in it, it is also the remote plipper. Annoyingly, they don't
give you a spare plipper, only a normal key.

The ZX10 has expensive ones as well, but at least that comes with 3
    normal keys, plus a master.

I've always found Keys Galore in Primrose Hill (London) to have
almost any key for anything. Got a key off the shelf for my 1972 ST 70
    for a tenner.
Mind you, the second one I got cut at Timpson's was only £6.

    Greybeard says...
Contact any Givi agent and they'll supply a matching lockset to fit one,
two or three boxes. They're not expensive.

That's what I thought I'd done, with our friend at Ongar M/c's, but I ended
up wiv a bloo one, instead of a red one (I don't know whether the colour
actually makes any difference TBH) but it doesn't fit.
I haven't tried since, but it was on about 8 quid IIRC, so I'm not over
    bothered.
Next time I'm that way, or near a Givi dealer I'll order another one. I feel
though, if I order another one from Ongar, I'll end up with a matching pair
    that don't fit ;o)

    Greybeard says...
I'm not on about keys, I'm on about complete locks with keys. Swopping
the whole lock is simple. Givi locks are standardised throughout their
whole range, they fit any box they make and have done for years.

  12. Those old Rickman top boxes always used to have the same lock, all of
'em. A new lockset cost a few quid. I've actually got one or two in the
    garage, c/w keys.

Well as it happened, this bloke is relatively unpikey, but was having his
Landrover fettled at our place so I just took the opportunity. I still had
an original key, but only one and a spare key is always handy and the
lockman has never failed us before. We use him quite a lot coz being
involved with cars and bikes on a daily basis (some owned by wimmin) means
we have more than our fair share of "I've broken/lost/bent/locked my key
inside the car" episodes than most and he's always managed to get a door
open, remove a broken bit of key, or cut a new one that fits.

It seems that it's only bikes that cause the problem too, or maybe it's just
when the fucking key is for me.

I asked Fiat for one to replace one for a Fiat Cinquicento. Over 800 quid.
Then I found the original under the seat and no, it wasn't my car.

Fortunately, I found it BEFORE I bought the replacement.

More than it was actually worth then a week after it left the showroom.

  18. Certainly more than the car was worth. He flogged it for £100, and if
the bloke who bought it knew a way of getting in running again on the
cheap, good luck to him. Was his attitude.

Sorry, I obviously didn't make myself clear.
This was for a whole lock and 2 key set.
These don't fit, as I think they might be Kappa ones? as when you put the
key in the "idle " position, for a better word, the whole lock assembly sits
at 45 degrees to the hole. It can't be lined up! Both Rob and myself were
    rather surprised by this.
