Bloody Jap Rubbish...

    Just went to get the bike out, only to discover that the wretched battery is
    flat as a pancake. Bunged it on charge, but it looks like it's curtains
    for the battery - after 4 hours charging it still only shows 10.76 Volts
    :-(

    It's only 3 1/2 years old and done 60,000 miles. You'd have thought Mr
    Honda would have made them to last. New one is 45 quid, but as Mr Bleeding
    Honda didn't bother with a kickstart, there is no alternative... :-(

    In the old days the battery was just a 'nice to have' - as long as there was
    a couple of voles left in it for a spark, you were merrily on your way.

    it's unlikely to have much left for sparks.

    Also, there aren't too many hills local to here, and bumping 300kg of
    Pan along the flat road isn't my first choice of fun things to do of a
    morning.

    In the case of my Guzzi, which is slightly less current hungry than a
    Pan, I've never successfully bump started the brute.

    I was tempted - but it's cold and nasty out and the croc clips pinch
    your fingers in the cold - so I didn't bother. It was about due a new
    battery really. I don't think it owes me a lot.

    Previously on usenet, Champ said...
    Even I managed to bump start my last ZZR11 in Fleet Services car park
    one evening. I got home and found the battery completely dry.
