Bloody Sydney weather!

You realise though that from Tassie I could get out of bed at 8.40am,
shower and be at work at 9am. And can again now. So it might have been
a perspective (plus hindsight) thing.

And get on a bike and be out of the city in 10 minutes and on some
lovely roads.

Don't work in the media then.

 

So when someone asked you where you were heading in the arvo you'd reply
"far Kew!".

 

LOL. You must have been using the same map that you used when you were
navigating through Sydney. Kew Junction to Nunawading CH10 studios is a
16km trip, not across the city, but from an inner-eastern suburb, to a
mid-eastern suburb which involves riding along one road and turning
right onto another road. It doesn't involve riding into or near the
CBD, and aside from the one turn you need to make, it involves riding
along 9km of 2 lane 60kph, 3km of 70kph and 5km of 80kph 3 lane roads
(though if you were doing it prior to about 1992 those 80kph would have
been 75kph) As commutes go, it's about as ideal a commute as anyone
could wish for (and working those hours, always heading in the opposite
direction to the main traffic flow). Google maps says 31 mins but I
reckon you'd be copping it pretty rough if it took much longer than 15
mins at 4am. Maybe 30mins at 4pm.
