Or, more correctly, Bloody Terry Shepherd NS400 to 500cc conversions...
Just had a call from the shop about, oh I don't know, the 20th problem
    they've had....

The latest one for TS's "bolt-on" kit is that, now the engine is all
together, and now that the pistons have bee machined to fit, and now that
the exhausts finally fit properly..... The extra height and width of the
cylinders has pushed the carbs up too high so they foul on the frame. Only
available solution appears to be hacking lumps from the frame to fit the
carbs in... How the aibox and tank will then fit is, of course, not known
    yet....

So the prospect of the NS appearing in time for Saturday is looking bleak to
    say the least.. :(

attach flexipipe style hose to the intakes and mount the box somewhere else.
    Failing that fit Bellmouths ;-)

Sounds like they've not done it very many times before.
I'm sure that there is a better solution than hacking lumps out of the
frame. Can the engine be moved slightly on its mounts, or the inlet
    manifolds be modified?
So you'll be in the car then.

First and last they'll ever do by all accounts... Just glad I didn't try to
    do it myself...
Engine can't be moved due to clearance needed for spannies etc.... I think
its partly my fault for having a race-tune rather than road. I'm going to
have a look tomorrow i I get time, but from what I was told, taking a small
bit of frame out is the only way. I'm hoping that we're only talking little
    bits of frame, though...
Well Kate has offered up her R6. But I can't see the point in bring a bike
other than the NS, so Alfa it is[1], stuffed with tents and airbeds and
whatever else I can fit in.. :(

    Dave

[1] Unless it's very very nice and hot and sunny when the R6 will be quite
good fun on the roads near the BH...

More than 3000 miles without taking it apart? Wow... ;)

I shouldn't think so. This one's only just done 3000 miles, and it's
    on its second engine.

No wonder you take the wing to events like *OSM.
