**** me, look at the prices! 2nd-hand ones going for not much less
than I paind for my brand-new 300bhp Passat R36 last year.

Why, I mean WHY, would anyone pay that sort of money for something
    like this?

True but Nige did ask how fast they were and if they were any good on
    dual carraigways (sic)

Indeed. Hacking around town calls for a manoeverable lightweight, easy to
flick through traffic. The ideal urban commuter, IMHO, is a 250 or 125
    weighing 125kg or less.

There is a lot to be said for using the correct tool for the job in hand,
the bigass boys toys can stay in the garage for weekend use when they
    can be properly enjoyed.

The BMW is not a bad bike, they just misjudged the market by trying to
sell a luxury solution at between double and triple the going price for
    an urban hack.

You [1] can stunt with them. I saw a chap grab the front brake very hard
and made it complete a forward roll.

[1] I say "you" not knowing whether you could, but now I have pointed it
out I am confident you'll give it a try.

Why sell yourself short? Get an MP3 with heated leg covers and comfort
    screen.

Is it wrong that I think it's not as sad as maybe I ought to?

Is it wrong that my first thought on seeing that was "Hmmm? Practical."

Note to self.......Don't. Just Don't. Alright?

There is something about them. No sure what. I wonder what the
maintenance is like? No! Must stop NOW! Must NOT get tempted.

I followed one briefly into town this morning. It was wobbling about all
over the place, dunno how he/she managed that.

With the weight of the extra wheel and associated junk, they're a bit
sluggish off the line[1], although they supposedly make it up in the
    corners.

    [1]compared to the equivalent scooter

TBF the 650 is quite a bit better bike than the venerable 600 and the
latter was what I was suggesting to you Nige, and all you need is right
    here

I was thinking of mating a KTM 610 lump onto an auto scooter gearbox /
swing arm unit as a project. That would have some pep... or maybe a 250
2 stroke lump, it would be simpler.

Going to have a bit of spare time after this year is done.

Hmm.. thought some folk raced the C1 in off road scooter racing.
