Check tyre pressures before anything else & check the tyres. There was a
dodgy batch of Tourances around a while ago. Fronts with weird wear
patterns and delamination in a few extreme cases.

If the tyres are okay then define slap? Steering, rear end wiggling?

I'm in S.Wales so any diagnostics will be done remotely.

This bloke is not far from you, in SW15

He has a very good reputation and is cheap.

Owen has an R1150GS. I thought it was the R1200GS that had the chocolate FD
bearing? On the R1150 there is an adjuster on the paralever bearing. I've
had mine tweaked twice in the 48,000 miles the bike has covered. If the
bearing has failed then I beleieve it is a relatively cheap & simple fix on
    the R1150.

According to UKGSer there have been loads of R1200 FD failures and BMW were
not supplying the parts for the units to be fixed. Dealers were being
encouraged to replace the whole FD. I think bearing kits are now available
as I don't think BMW could keep up with demand for the complete FD
assemblies. Some people are on to their second or third replacement and
just keep extending their factory warranty in anticipation of a future
    claim.

take it to Neil at the GSShop - he'll probably diagnose the problem pretty
quickly and if there is something wrong, fix it cheaper than most. He's
usually got a courtesy bike kicking about.
